About Audio Test Tools

Updated

Audio Test Tools is a set of free tools that run in your web browser. You can check speakers and headphones, test a microphone, play tones and noise, and tune an instrument, without installing anything or creating an account.

The site is built and maintained by Tanveer Azam Ansari. I write the tools, test them on real equipment, and write the pages that explain them.

Why this site exists

When something sounds wrong, you want a quick answer. Is the left earbud dead? Is the subwoofer connected? Can your call hear you? Many test pages make that harder than it should be. They load slowly, bury the test under ads, or promise measurements a browser can't make.

Audio Test Tools aims to do the opposite. The tool comes first, the result is in plain language, and each page tells you what to try next.

What makes these tools different

  • Tool first. Every tool sits at the top of its page and starts with one click.
  • Private. Sound and files are processed on your device. Nothing is uploaded.
  • Honest about limits. A browser can't measure loudness in dB SPL or check anyone's hearing, and the pages say so where it matters.
  • Safe volume. Sound tools start at 25% volume and fade in, so nothing blasts your ears.
  • No ads near the controls. Ads never sit inside a tool or next to its buttons.

About me

I'm a software engineer in India, and audio is the hobby I keep coming back to. I play guitar, I like getting speakers and headphones set up properly, and I'm often the one friends and family ask when an earbud goes quiet or a speaker won't connect. I built this site after one too many test pages that hid a simple left and right check under a pile of ads.
